The View is one of the experiences that were in my (no-ending) wishlist here in New York. This is a restaurant that sits on the 47th floor of the New York Marriott Marquis, in the heart of Times Square. For the location, on top of a building, you can imagine that one of the highlights of the place is due to the view, right? In addition, it has a very special detail: no matter the location of your table, you will see the whole view, since it is a revolving restaurant. And, to conclude, on Sundays, it offers a brunch buffet with a fixed price. Cool, huh? We were there last week and today I will share our experience with you.
The New York Marriott Marquis is a gigantic hotel. To get to the restaurant, you enter the lobby, up the escalators, check in with a host – and you can check your coat if you wish, and go up to the 47th floor in a transparent elevator, that past the floors of the hotel, providing a fantastic view of its roughness. We had a reservation for 11.30am and, upon arriving, were quickly accommodated at our table, next to the window.
Speaking about the issue of the restaurant being revolving, I confess I was pretty curious. It’s nothing that will make you dizzy or uncomfortable: every lap takes around 20 minutes. At first, as it was new, I noticed more. In the end, I did not even notice it, it became supernatural. And we have to talk about the view! Unfortunately, the day we were there the weather was rainy and a bit uncovered, so we could not visualize everything, which made me a little frustrated. But I know from the photos and videos I saved from the website that the view of the city is beautiful! Also, the host told me that during the summer the sunset from up there is breathtaking!
As I said, brunch is only on Sundays. From Monday to Saturday, The View opens from 5:30 p.m. to dinner, with a fixed price menu from $89, including starter, main course, and dessert. You can click here to check the options available on the menu. Another thing worth mentioning is the Lounge, which is on the next floor, 48th and is a bar. If your idea is to enjoy the view, it may be a good option. The Lounge requires a minimum of one drink per person and from 8 pm they charge a fee of $8 per person.
We loved our experience at The View and it has already joined my list of recommended restaurants/experiences! If you are interested in dinner or brunch, I suggest making a reservation and securing a seat.
